Ronja and Birk are the children of the chieftains of two feuding robber families. However, despite their father's prohibitions, they want to be friends. In order to defend their friendship, a great test awaits them. They must leave their homes and learn to live in a wild forest full of supernatural beings. They can do it if they stick together. Then maybe even their doting dads will understand that friendship is one of the most valuable things that life offers us.
